What's Going On aka A Random Post

  • I called out sick from work yesterday, my stomach was bothering me and I felt like I just needed a mental health day. It was fabulous to just lay around doing nothing all day and I feel quite refreshed!
  • My parents are at the beach for a long weekend so we are watching Gryffin...he has slept over at our apartment since Wednesday and we are staying at my parent's house from tonight until Sunday so we can also keep an eye on my little brother (he is 17 so my parents are worried he will have a party or something.)
  • K is almost done with his summer class (criminal law), he just has to take his final on Monday. He is planning to study a lot this weekend.
  • Fingers crossed...I will be going to see "Bruno" on Saturday. I know some people hated it, but I loved "Borat" and I am very excited to check out Sasha Baron Cohen's latest venture. I hope it isn't too hard to get tickets since it comes out today! Other then that it should be a low key weekend.
  • I have lost almost 10 pounds since I started "Atkins." I use the term loosely since I am doing more low carb/low sugar. When I really stuck to Atkins induction weight came off very fast but it's not a very realistic diet for long term so it's going more slowly---and I am ok with it. I have been very good during the week but it's hard not to slack off a bit on the weekends!

Happy Friday Everyone! Anyone have any cool weekend plans?

The Carb-less House

I'm back from a lovely weekend in...you guessed it...DC, full of many fun events which I will post about just as soon as I can steal some pictures from my friend, E.R., as of course I didn't take any of my own.

In the meantime K and I started doing Atkins today, I have just been finding it hard to actually lose weight by watching what I eat so I thought I (and K) would try something different. We also both love meat so hopefully that will work in our favor! I know Atkins has been criticized by some, but I know a lot of people that it has really worked for and if you actually read the book and follow that it is much more balanced then just eat a bunch of meat and cheese.

We are in the "induction phase" right now, and I have to say if everyday is this yummy I don't think I will have much problem sticking to it. I had a turkey sausage, cheddar cheese, and egg scramble for breakfast, half and avocado and crab salad for lunch and salmon, spinach salad and some mozzarella cheese for dinner...and I found I didn't get as hungry throughout the day. They say the 2nd and 3rd day of "induction" can be the worst...but both of us are committed so I think we can get through it. Wish me luck!

And to end this on a random note...they are building homecoming floats on "Greek" tonight and I must say I built (almost single handedly...if I may brag for a moment) 2 amazing floats while in college, including one with a life sized chicken wire and paper mache crocodile. It is very hard to wrestle 8 feet of chicken wire...I still have scars. Those were the days.
