Wishful Wednesday: 3 Minutes

I wish I could spend three
minutes in K's shoes!

While it would be fascinating to spend three minutes in a famous person's shoes, gaining some insight into how K thinks would be a great opportunity. For those of you who don't know K is my boyfriend. We have a lot in common and have been together a long time but we have very different personalities. I am loud, dramatic and love to be the center of attention. He is quiet, rational and reserved.

Well, maybe not all the time.

Since unlike me, he doesn't blurt out every thought that comes into his head, I would love to know what he really thinks about certain things. Not that I want to know everything in his head, but since three minutes isn't that long so it would work out for me to get just enough information.

I know it's hard to believe that someone as sexy as me could be annoying. Not everyone can rock a bug balloon hat while eating ribs, right? But I know I get on K's nerves from time to time, so it would be nice to know how I could improve on that.

All in all, I am very happy with our relationship, but being able to understand K better could only improve what we have!

As long as I don't have to actually wear his shoes...they are not as cute as mine!

conversations in my apartment

My normal evening routine this fall has been to start cooking dinner around 7 so it's ready when K gets home from class, then we eat in front of the TV (don't judge.)

However, now his classes are done for the semester and he just has a finals this Thursday night and next Thursday night so we are both home in the evening and can hang out, drink some wine and talk while I cook dinner.

This extra time together (and the wine) leads to some very deep conversations about truly fascinating subjects. Like this one...

Me: If Hanna were a Disney princess, which one would she be?

K: Xena, Warrior Princess. Because she is a little warrior girl.

Me: Xena isn't a Disney princess, so she can be Mulan, she was a warrior...although Mulan wasn't technically a princess.

K: She can be Nala, she became the queen right?

Me: I'm not sure Nala normally is considered a princess either, because she is a lion. You know...she probably was actually Simba's sister and his wife. Mufasa was the only male lion at Pride Rock.

K: Yea, there is only one male lion who mates with all the females.

Me: Maybe her father was actually Scar?

K: Mufasa never should have let Scar stay around he should have kicked him out and prevented the fratricide.

At this point I started singing "Be Prepared," and went back to chopping up green peppers...

We are so weird.

Happy Birthday to K...

Today is K's birthday, he is now 24 which is sweet since we are the same age again. For a little while there I felt like a cougar...just kidding.

If I had baking skillz I would make him this cake to celebrate his birthday and the start of Halloween month.
But I don't have any baking skillz or any fondant...so I am making him fajitas instead.

Happy Birthday K, I sure am glad you were born!

This morning's emotional roller coaster, brought to you by the letter K

For some reason when I woke up this morning, I thought it was Monday. Depressing since I thought about what I had done over the weekend and couldn't remember anything. K mumbled something about pressing snooze and that he didn't care if he was a little late getting to work...I mumbled back: "is it Monday?" Obviously, he told me it was Friday, which made me very happy, especially since I can wear jeans on Friday and I am supposed to be in training all afternoon...so much better then actually working.

I showered, got dressed, etc...and K left for work. A few minutes later my phone rings. It's K, just calling to tell me he saw a dead fawn by the side of the road...and it was so sad he just had to share. Way to put a damper on my morning.

Thank you boyfriend, for cheering me up then brining me down all before 8 am. (hehe)

I realized I really don't share much on the blog about my relationship and K so I did a search for a fun meme I could do and I found this quiz meme on a couple of different blogs a while ago(including Adventures in Newlywed and In Love With A Farm Boy) and thought I would try it out.

How long have you been together? We had a very weird relationship to start off so it's hard to say specific time frame...so you can pick from October of 2004 or May of 2005

How long did you know each other before you started dating? Officially about a week the first time we started "dating"

Who asked who out? Since we were in college we didn't really go on dates, K asked me to be his girlfriend in October of 2004 then broke up with me in December...then we sort of just ended up back together in May 2005 and have been together ever sense. (that is a verrrrry brief summary of a very crazy situation that perhaps I will post about at some point)

Who said I love you first? He did

How old are each of you? We both are 23 but I am older by 3 months

Whose siblings do/did you see the most? Mine, we see my family much more then his because we live near them

Do you have any children together? Maybe someday! But not now!

What about pets? Hanna!

Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple? I would say K being in law school is hard right now but I know it will help us have a better future.

Are you from the same hometown? Nope, I am an Army brat/MD girl and he is from NJ

Who is the most sensitive? Me

Where do you eat out most as a couple? When we go out to eat we mix it up a lot, the places we eat regularly we order in.

Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple? Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Who does the cooking? Mostly me, but K is the breakfast maker

Who is the most social? By far me, I am a loud, center of attention type of person, and K is reserved and thoughtful.

Who is the neat-freak? We both are in different ways, I am more quirky about things being in the right place and K is more into making sure the kitchen is clean.

Where was your first date? Ummm...we met up at a frat party, does that count? We never really went on a first date.

Who has the bigger family? Me

Do you get flowers often? No, but that's ok

Who do you spend the holidays with? So far my family

Who is more jealous? I guess me, but I don't think either of us are too jealous

Who picks where you go to dinner? We both hate making little decisions so it always requires a lot of deliberation to pick...I guess both of us!

Who eats more sweets? K, I am not much of a sweets person. I prefer bacon.

Unexpected Blessing

No my title for this post does not mean I am pregnant, but we are gaining a new member of our "family."

Yes, in a few short weeks we will gain a new car. Remember how K borrowed his grandpa's car while Big Gray was getting fixed? On Saturday he went to New Jersey to bring it back and pick-up Big Gray so he could have it down here avilable to trade it when he finds something else...and his grandpa told him he could have his car! Then K found out today that he is going to give him the car...as in for free.

I am so glad he won't have to take on a car payment while putting himself through law school. His parents don't give him much financial support and we are both so greatful his grandpa is able to help him out in such an awesome way. Thanks "PaPa"!

Hopefully this will be the end of the car drama for a while...now the new car just needs a name!
