Resturant Week

Ok so the title for this post is not so creative but it's early on a Sunday morning so please don't judge. Despite the fact that I have lived in the Baltimore area for 12 years I hadn't heard of restaurant week until this past summer. If you live in this area you definitely should check it out. There is a summer week and a winter week and it is a great chance to check out some amazing (and expensive) restaurants you might not go to regularly. They offer a price fix menu including appetizer, entree and desert for only $30.09. Good news if you are around here and haven't gone yet...they have just extended the winter week February 8th, a whole extra week. And if you don't live in Baltimore don't fret, I am pretty sure that most cities have some kind of restaurant week, so look into it!

Last night K and I went to The Black Olive in Fells Point and it was awesome! It is a very cute little restaurant with a homey feel. I checked out the regular menu on the website and even if you don't go during restaurant week the menu isn't too pricey, it would be nice for a special occasion. They have a HUGE wine list with wines from all over the world and if you are watching your budget you can be like us and get a half bottle. K and I both got the seafood salad for an appetizer, it was pieces of shrimp, lobster, octopus and calamari mixed with red onions, tomatoes and cilantro...very summery. We both said we probably could have eaten a whole bowl of that. Foe the entree K had the Rockfish kabob and I had the Kleftiko, which was lamb cooked in parchment. It came out in the parchment still and the waiter scooped in onto a plate with couscous. The lamb was so tender and had a slight lemony taste, which worked very well. For dessert I had the carrot cake and K had baklava; carrot cake is about the only cake I like and this was probably the best I have ever had. All in all, a great meal at a very reasonable price, and another neat thing about The Black Olive is that they use almost all organic ingredients...so it is good for you too!
