From my bookshelf

To thank you all for your wonderful book recommendations before I went to the beach I thought I would pass along some of the best books I have read over the past month or so.

This is a mix of a modern murder mystery centering on a guy who was raised in polygamy who comes back when his mother is accused of killing his father, and historical semi-fiction, namely the life of Ann Eliza Young. Ann Eliza was a wife of Brigham Young who divorced him and then spoke out about polygamy around the country. Personally, I was impressed with how David Ebershoff was able to blend two completely different stories into a cohesive book.
Seriously, this was probably one of the most addicting books I have read since Twilight. I read almost the whole book in one sitting and I am actually re-reading it again. It deals with a German woman living in Nazi Germany and what she does to survive as well as the legacy of guilt non-Jewish Germans deal with.

This was actually recomended by several of my bloggy friends and I am very glad I took their advice. It is about the realtionships between black "help" and their white female employers in the 1960s South. The characters in the book are really awesome.

So have you read any good books lately? I need to know what I should read next!

Thanks for the suggestions! I've heard great things about Those Who Save Us, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. These all look good!
