How to Find a Husband

I have another weird TV show I have been watching and wanted to blog about it. I can't decide if it is good or semi-annoying; it's called "How to Find a Husband," and it is about this British "TV presenter" who goes on a 10 week quest to find a husband. If you hadn't guessed, it it was another Fine Living Network discovery, because husband hunting is a fine way to live.

Basically she just keeps doing all of these random activities, ie speed dating, online dating, psychics, newspaper ads, accosting people on the street etc...we are up to week 5 and no husband yet. But it is entertaining none the less.

And it brings up a thought on a conversation I have had with a lot of my friends...which is semi-related to the show. A lot of my friends met their significant others in college (myself included) which is an easy place to meet people, but a lot of my single girlfriends now live in areas where they don't know a ton of people and we often discuss how they would meet someone to date...I never feel like I can give them advice on this, and would love to be able to.

So what do you think, how is the best way to meet guys (or girls) in an area where you don't know people? Have you ever been in this situation?

I moved to Dallas from Minneapolis last summer and didn't know anyone. A friend suggested I try online dating to meet some people to hang out with. I thought it seemed really creepy, but I met my boyfriend after just a week! We've been dating 10 months now.

I'm usually embarrassed to tell people this is how we met, but I'm willing to sacrifice pride for the common good :)

I agree with the previous blogger. The Internet helps so much nowadays! : )

I met my BF through work, but some friends have tried on-line dating sites and have met great guys!

Haha, that's hilarious. I wish I got that show in HK.

Best place to meet guys? Um... bars?

The internet helps for sure! That's how I met Ronnie and we've been together 3 years! I was just bored meeting jerks at bars and my friends and I decided to get on there for fun and Ronnie found me and wrote me. It was very sweet and I think it was the perfect way to meet him! :)

I'm watching the show for the first time at this very moment... and had to find something about it on the internet, to see what peole thought, and so here I am...

You were right when you said annoying.. VERY annoying. This woman can't shut up. She's one of those rmabling, cut people off, blah blah blah.. listen to me, here is my opinion, etc... women who it feels like work to watch, let alone date.

I can see why she is single, and she isn't likeable enough for this show to be a big hit, I think. If she had a better personality, I can see the audience rooting for her, and tuning in... But she comes off, well, like the tv presenter she is... blustery, annoying, in your face, non-stop. Not like a real person.

I loved this show. I thought it was great as was she. I think we all identify on some level with her. As far as I know she never actually did find her "husband" but she got out there and tried new things.

I don't know if I am ready for online dating yet (probably never!) but i think it is great that people can now actively pursue their happiness instead of just waiting for Mr Right.

Go ladies!!
