Let me preface by saying I do not mean this post to offend anyone, if you are a huge Michael Jackson fan please don't hate me.
All snark aside, I think it is very sad that Michael Jackson passed away so young. Actually, I love so much of his music and recognize that his talent and influence is immeasurable. How wonderful is it that music lives on and future generations will be able to enjoy it? (that last sentence was a little cheesy for me...but you get my point)
Now that being said...I don't get why now that he is dead he is a hero...for the past 10 years, maybe more, if Michael Jackson was talked about it was because of some crazy antic or trouble with the law.
I found it disturbing the people calling into the radio stations last night talking about how one time they saw him drive by in a car or the girl that made me turn off my radio when she said: "you will always remember where you were when your heard he died" and "this is the biggest thing to happen since September 11th." Then the DJs agreed with her!
Comparing MJ's death to 9/11 is not fair and offensive.
Yes, it is sad, but come on people, put it into perspective a little.

Michael Jackson was a pedophile in my books. Once upon a time he also made great music. However, his music is overshadowed by the fact he diddled the doinks of young boys. I am not sad that he died, the Michael Jackson that most of us loved died a long time ago.
